  • First Base | Ally Wiegand ~ Book Review
I was excited to see a new baseball romance on NetGalley (I’m in my sports romance era), but this one was a strikeout. (you see what I did there?) There was so much potential in this book: mental health rep, healing from grief, complicated parental relationships, redemption. But the execution was lacking.
  • Love and Other Conspiracies | Mallory Marlowe ~ Book Review
*Cue the X-Files theme song* Am I a believer? Possibly (probably). Was I thrilled about the reference to Mothman’s juicy booty? 10000000% yes. Was I jealous of fictional characters visiting Point Pleasant, WV? Also, yes. As a cryptid and all things “Out There” lover, this book was spot on for me.
  • My (not-so) Perfect Summer | Phoebe MacLeod ~ Book Review
My (Not-So) Perfect Summer is a very sweet (and clean) story with lovable characters in an idyllic setting. Reading about the little English town Autumn’s mother lives in makes me want to travel to the English countryside immediately! I want to listen to all the drama and ride in a tractor while gazing out at sheep.
  • Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands | Heather Fawcett ~ Book Review
I was a little afraid that this would suffer from “Second Book Syndrome,” but it was just as good (if not better) than the first.
  • Funny Story | Emily Henry ~ Book Review
All hail Emily Henry! Another amazing read from one of my favorite authors. She really understands the complexities of relationships. As someone who has complicated feelings about family, I connected so hard to Daphne and her struggles with her parents, partner(s), and friends. Daphne’s insecurities surrounding being capable of being loved and her struggle to learn to trust in others was so real and familiar and real.
  • The Viaduct Killings | Wes Markin ~ Book Review
I did not expect the twists in this one! It kept me guessing to the end* and I immediately found the second book, The Lonely Lake Killings. I started my love affair with British police procedurals via Elly Griffith’s Ruth Galloway series, which is set in King’s Lynn, not too far from Yorkshire
  • The Art of Catching Feelings | Alicia Thompson ~ Book Review
I am in my sports romance era! I can’t get enough of sports romance, especially baseball. Maybe it’s the arctic cold weather lately, but I’m craving the sun on my face and the crack of a bat just absolutely sending a ball soaring into the outfield.
  • Swift and Saddled | Lyla Sage ~ Book Review
While this is the second book in the series, it stands on its own well. I had not yet read Done and Dusted when I picked this one up, but it does feature the same characters and continues their story arcs, so if that is important to you, read Done and Dusted first. But this series is easily read out of order! It is so wonderful to see more accurate representations of mental health in romance books lately.
  • Starling House | Alix E. Harrow ~ Book Review
I cannot adequately put into words how much I loved this book. It’s filled with complicated and detailed characters whose actions sometimes really make it hard to root for them, but you can’t help loving (many) of them anyway.
